On August 31st, 2023, the HOTO ceremony for the SEDM-CC and PMSC Chairmanship and SEEBRIG Command was held in Kumanovo, the Republic of North Macedonia. In this context, Bucharest took over the SEDM Chairmanship from Sophia, while Greece handed over the command to Albania.
Ms. Simona Cojocaru, State Secretary and chief of the Department for Defence Policy, Planning and International Relations, became the new SEDM Chairperson, succeeding the outgoing Bulgarian Chairperson, Deputy Minister of Defence, Atanas Zapryanov. State Secretary Simona Cojocaru underlined Romania's commitment to continue contributing to the joint efforts for enhancing security and stability in South Eastern Europe, as well as the Romanian Chairmanship's desire to work on revitalizing the SEDM initiative.
In the context of the SEEBRIG, Brigadier General Evangelos Mitroutsikos passed the command to Brigadier General Bilbil Bitri. The new COMSEEBRIG underlined that this new post is the greatest challenge of his career, so far, and stressed the potential need to continue expanding SEEBRIG's capabilities.
The ceremony, held in the presence of high representatives of the SEDM nations, international organizations, as well as ambassadors and local authorities, has also marked the 24th anniversary of the SEEBRIG.
