Leaders in Security and Defence Conference

 

The Conference “Female Leaders in Security and Defence” was held on 11-12 November 2019, in Sarajevo. In addition to the representatives of the BiH Ministry of Defence, representatives  of the Ministries of Defence of the SEDM Initiative from Ankara, Bucharest, Chisinau, Podgorica , Rome and Sofia participated in the conference; as well as representatives from SEDM Secretariat, UNDP, NATO and OSCE.

On the first working day of the conference, the BiH Minister of Defence Mrs. Marina Pendeš and Assistant Minister of Defense for International Cooperation Mr. Zoran Sajinovic addresed the participants.

BiH Minister of Defense Mrs. Marina Pendeš wished all participants a successful work and expressed satisfaction that Bosnia and Herzegovina was entrusted this year to lead the initiative "Female Leaders in Security and Defence". The Minister spoke about the importance of the implementation of UN Security Council 1325 and the following Resolutions by the BiH MOD. She noted that "SEDM is one of the most important and enduring regional initiative, and in this context, the promotion of leadership and training for women is of paramount importance."

The purpose of this conference organized by Sarajevo as a lead nation for the FLSD Project was to highlight the importance of the women role in the security and defense sectors and to recognize the experiences, good practices and policies of the countries of South Eastern Europe on this topic.
